South Carolina artist, Kelly Ferguson, attended Converse College for her BFA in Creative and Professional Writing, as well as a BA in Hispanic studies. After graduating with a minor in Studio Art, she decided it wasn’t enough, and returned for her full Bachelor’s degree. Her work explores lived experiences as well as the inexplicable internal self through oil, acrylic, and digital mediums. Currently she is developing several different bodies of work exploring the metaphor of Baptism, the contrast between natural and artificial beauty, and still lifes of the objects she finds surrounding her. Her work centers around personal identity, reflecting on day to day monotonies, and engaging with religious rhetoric through ambiguous visuals. The goal of Ferguson’s art is to create connections and conversations among her viewers to promote a more empathetic world.
