The Open Doors Studio Tour Spartanburg is a self-guided 2-day event that is free to the public. Artists across Spartanburg County open their studios and share their creative process inside their working studios. Artists provide demonstrations, or show their equipment and tools, or allow people to see artworks in various stages of completion. Educating the general public about where and how artists create is an important element of the tour and not available in any other event in the county.
During our first tour in April, 2023, Open Doors artists tracked their studio visits during the weekend and reported almost 5,000 visitors. This year, with the support of our sponsors, we were able to print 2500 mailer / posters and 2500 tour catalogues. These were distributed widely around Spartanburg and all surrounding counties. We also purchased three yard signs for each studio location. One of our goals is to double our promotional materials in 2024.
To promote Open Doors we also built a Website with each of the 45 participating artists represented with images of their artwork, a brief artist statement, studio address, and Facebook, Instagram, and website links. Open Doors was also heavily promoted on social media such as Facebook and Instagram.
Open Doors Studio Tour Spartanburg is a collaboration between the Artists Collective Spartanburg, the Chapman Cultural Center, the Spartanburg Art Museum, and the Spartanburg Artists Guild. The success of the Open Doors depends on sponsorship, as none of the organizations coordinating the event are funding it.
The Open Doors Studio Tour is a chance to showcase the unique talents and diversity of the visual arts community of Spartanburg County. Thank you for reviewing our sponsorship levels, and for considering becoming a sponsor for the 2024 Open Doors Studio Tour.
