STUDIO TOUR
South Carolina artist, Kelly Ferguson, attended Converse College for her BFA in Creative and Professional Writing, as well as a BA in Hispanic studies. After graduating with a minor in Studio Art, she decided it wasn’t enough, and returned for her full Bachelor’s degree. Her work explores lived experiences as well as the inexplicable internal self through oil, acrylic, and digital mediums.

I was raised in the hills of Wheeling, West Virginia. My surroundings left a huge impact on me, and it shows in my work. I started painting in my early twenties and remained a self-taught painter. I received an Associate degree in Advertising and Graphic Design at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. I worked in Graphic Design, Visual Merchandising and Picture Framing over the years. Then I went full time with my painting in the 90's.

How can you live without color? Just love playing and working with all kinds of materials to create jewelry pieces. I started with copper work, learned about turquoise patinas, moved on to sterling, Argentium. texturing on metals and learned about some studio tools. Then came some soldering, simple stone setting and a few years of enameling classes and one long week of adhering prisma colored pencils to copper. Recently, I have been exploring fused glass classes and working with Vintage tin earrings.

As a clay artist I am most intrigued by process in my art. This enthusiasm for exploring techniques in my craft, keeps the work I produce fresh and varied for me. I enjoy hand building and using the wheel to produce my work. I also enjoy making functional ceramic dinnerware pieces and sculptures including masks, totes, animals and portrait sculptures. The solace of my studio and the surrounding pasture give me inspiration.
STUDIO TOUR
I am an artist who works in oils and predominantly paints landscapes or still life. I want to use whatever gifts I've been given to display truth as beautifully as I can, so my work tends toward realism. I find joy in a variety of subjects and color palettes, especially those found in nature and the scenery around me. I have no message or agenda other than bringing myself and hopefully others the joy experienced through this visual language.
