STUDIO TOUR
I am a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of scientific research, emotional experience, and symbolic meaning. I focus on natural elements and behaviors to underline a relationship with the environment, how it fits within our realm of existence, and the ways in which we might understand and appreciate conserving it.
STUDIO TOUR
It has been a pleasure making a living in the creative field for most of my life and to be considered an artist by others is a blessing. I have been a commercial and fine art photographer for almost thirty years. There is a balance or blend of the two types I shoot. Sometimes they are one and the same, other times they feel completely separate.
STUDIO TOUR
Jim and I have been sharing a studio for over 30 years. He on his pottery wheel and me using table and slab roller.
He's been fascinated with pottery and the wheel since he was 12 yrs old going to the Fine Arts school in Greenville SC in highschool then to Haywood college.
I did as much art as I was introduced to. My father had a wood shop and gave me carving tools and a piece of cedar.
STUDIO TOUR
I serve as Professor of Art at Spartanburg Methodist College. My studio at Mayfair is a place were I can embrace experimentation as an essential part of my daily practice. I am guided by my intuition in much of my work. I am best known for my images called Guardians, angelic forms usually painted on found wood. I consider my time painting these images to be a manual act of contemplative prayer.
STUDIO TOUR
I am a mixed media artist that is always exploring and playing with multiple mediums and developing techniques of my own. I'm drawn to bold, intense colors and reflection of light. All of my artistic expression no matter what the media, always comes back to light. Lighting can evoke emotion, intensify color, and provide reflection. In my latest body of work I get in the flow. This happens both spiritually by connecting to my creator, and quite literally with paint, additional fluids, metallic inclusions, and crystals.
