About Jane Nodine
Maintaining a studio practice for over forty years, I make art that gives viewers an experience for looking and a sense of the physical. As we move into a more virtual world, “tactile” will become increasingly important in our lives. Young intern-surgeons have lost so much dexterity, they must now take courses in “sewing” in order to prepare for sutures in surgery. My work has always been an exploration of visual and tactile in paint, print, sculpture, drawing and jewelry that was influenced by the natural world, design work of my father, and textile work of my mother and grandmother. Now more than any other time of my career, I am pleased to have such a rich background in materials, techniques, and design that can give a voice to my studio practice and be shared with my audience.
