About Alana Clumeck

Artist Statement – Alana Clumeck

Alana Clumeck is a painter whose work explores the profound beauty, order, and intention found within the natural world. Rooted in a deep reverence for creation, her paintings are an invitation to slow down and notice—to truly see—the quiet miracles that surround us every day.

Inspired by the opening words of Genesis, “In the beginning, God created,” Clumeck approaches painting as both a response and a reflection: a response to the awe she feels in observing nature, and a reflection of the Creator’s hand evident in its details. Whether depicting wildlife, landscapes, or moments of stillness, her work seeks to honor the harmony between strength and grace that exists throughout the natural world.

Working primarily in oil and acrylic, Clumeck employs rich color, thoughtful composition, and expressive mark-making to capture not only what is visible, but what is felt. Her paintings balance realism with an emotional resonance—aiming to convey mood, movement, and presence rather than mere representation. Texture and layered brushwork play a key role in her process, echoing the complexity and depth found in nature itself.

Living and working in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Clumeck draws daily inspiration from her surroundings. The landscapes, wildlife, and rhythms of the Southeast inform her palette and subject matter, grounding her work in a sense of place while allowing it to speak universally.

Ultimately, Alana Clumeck’s work is about connection—between humanity and nature, observer and subject, creator and creation. Through her paintings, she hopes to offer viewers a moment of reflection, gratitude, and wonder, reminding them of the beauty that exists both around us and within us.
