About Heike Tonhaeuser
My name is Heike and I am a clay artist living in the United States since 2008. I’m originally from Germany; therefore, my designs are influenced and representative of both a variety of European cultures and contemporary American culture. Since I first touched clay, I’ve been drawn to it. All my pieces are wheel-thrown and altered afterwards.
I took workshops with Nick Joerling, Steven Hill, Gary Huntoon and Peter Beasecker which had an immense influence on my work.
My work is either decorative or usable in everyday life. Whether in the kitchen, the backyard, or the dinner table, there is a use for every one of my pieces.
