About Sandra Schindlbeck

I breathe life into the subconscious. I start by splashing watercolors on paper, randomly, sometimes with a color theme. I drip, fold and layer the colors. After drying I look at the outcome like I would at a Rorschach test. Most of the time I do not settle for the first thing I see. Sometimes I do. But If I have the chance to create a theme, I will.

My art and especially this technique helped me through some tough years, where I struggled with mental health, it brought the diversity, the oddity, the colorful fantasy within me to the surface. Before that I wasn’t a fan of bright colors or even bold color combinations, now I want to go bolder and bolder. There’s no creature too crazy, I love digging them out of the chaos of colors and shapes my intuition created.
